A bu Zeyd had a total of fourty six foals in the US. Twenty four were males of which five were gelded, and twenty two females. He was the premier sire of Maynesboro, and was imported from Crabbet by Homer Davenport. He was bred however by George Saville, and was known in England as Lali-Abdar. *Abu Zeyd was a flashily marked chestnut of great quality, and he stood slightly over 15 hands, weighing 975 lbs. Abu Zeyd put some pretty exotic heads on some of his daughters, such as Mariam.
